Liners
Designed to provide a ''quiet repose'' between the activity of the frame its subject, the liner can have a variety of visual attributes.
Fabric Wrapped Liners
For wrapped liners, the flat-and-bevel (FB) is our principally utilized profile, although customized configurations are possible. The preferred method, which we utilize, of fabric covering liners is called ''continuous wrap''--meaning that the seams of the joined wood structure are covered by a single section of material. We offer a small selection of commonly requested linens and silks, which are listed. You may also provide the fabric for your liner (Customer Ordered Fabric). The orientation (vertical vs. horizontal) for silk wrapped liners must be specified due to framing norms that require the ''grain'' to occur horizontally.
Gilded/Finished Liners
For liners that will receive a finish, the option of flat-and-bevel (FB) or flat-and-hollow (FH) type profiles is available. Most often, the request is for ''finish to match''--meaning that the liner is intended to receive the same treatment as its parent frame. Occasionally, a lighter, less-antique treatment is requested to further delineate the art and frame. As is the case for any constructed item, the specific attributes preferred will need to be stipulated.
